.....prejudice ..... stereotyping .....bigotry ..... stigma .....

     It’s lazy thinking
   It breeds intolerance
It’s selfish

Whatever word you use for it prejudice

It is arguably the greatest contributor to human isolation and mental ill health in communities across the world

……and it seems to be getting worse

Three examples

  • Antisocial behaviour is the biggest worry of a third of respondents to the British Crime Survey published January 2008.

  • In 2000 25% of the UK population admitted to being prejudiced about race. By 2007 that figure had gone up to 30%.
  • More than a quarter of those surveyed think poor people are lazy or lack will power, compared to a fifth in 1995.

(from British Social Attitudes 2008 a report produced by the National Centre for Social Research)

Wherever we are, whether it’s on an internet blog, in queues for the bus, in shops, or in cars it seems we’ve grown used to aggression and intolerance.

Challenging these attitudes is what this website is all about

We think it’s time to challenge Stigma wherever we find

 it

 and

Reclaim our humanity and our empathy
